Well, religion is the number one murder cause in the existence of mankind.... So yea, Religion is shit.
1 & 2 means there is no free will - It directly interferes with other teachings. "God knew you before you were born." He could have laid off the sauce while he was creating me...Thanks dude.
However philosophies which are newer catching it. Communism has killed millions. So has Socialism (to include Germany in WWII). Then of course there is dictatorships. However did Communism/Socialism/Totalitary systems advance science and preserve knowledge as much? Ponder what advances in personal freedoms came out of the Enlightenment. People are flawed and many @#$#@ up. There are some that is evil regardless of the philosophy, religion or system. One good test is can the system correct after being run by evil for a period. I think this is one of the strengths of the US Constitution which has rebound vs most statist systems.
But then you would not be you. Seems despite a crap ton of challenges you have done well for yourself and others around you.
US Civil war How about the Three Kingdoms War estimated 36-40 million dead Mongol conquests 30-40 m Spanish conquests against the Aztecs and Incas (this is debatable, but was a lot more about gold and territory than religion) over 20m Napoleonic Wars The list goes on and on. Plenty of killing for all kinds of reasons in the history of man. No reason to just single out religion.
Yeah the Jesus/Mohammed/whatever freaks aren’t really big on logic. I always viewed monotheism as really meaning a hierarchy of deities vs polytheism with coequal deities. Tellingly, monotheism evolved with shepherding culture and development of more advanced political structures. The religions grew to reflect the changing sociopolitical needs of the day. Man always develops religion as a means of social cohesion.
Whatever. Creationism and Evolution are the exact same thing. Big Bang was "let there be light". Then 7 days was actually millions of years. Change my mind!
