Regional Endurance Schedule

Ladies and gentlemen, bots and girls, children of all ages - let the comments begin!

I have posted the first draft of the schedule for Carolina Motorposrts Park in June on the schedule page of the web site. What we are looking at doing is limiting the grids for the MW & HW Solo 20's to 60 total bikes for Carolina and Road Atlanta. This will be broken down into 20 Experts and 40 Novices, first come first served. We will then run a waiting list, if we are short on either group we will open it up to the other group until we hit the magic number of 60 total entries. This has yet to become a problem with LW so we'll leave it alone for now (it will be the same rules if necessary).

Any questions etc... can be posted here and I'll answer them/take them under advisement, ignore them, whatever [IMG]

WHAT ARE ALL THESE EXTRA CLASSES ON SATURDAY?!? Are you SURE that you want to combine novice and expert on MW and HW Solo 20s? I think the schedule should keep the same format but limit the solos to ??? laps to accommodate a 2hr endurance.

Okay, good idea - but limiting them to allow for enough time would make them Solo 10's.

Just curious tho - what extra classes? It's a normal Saturday schedule with the addition of the 2 Hr.

Hmmmm. Well, to have this 2 hr race, you're cutting short the track time, at least in the races, for the vintage guys and people entered in solo races.

If this is the plan, then I think a reduction of the entry fees for the vintage guys and the people in the solos would be in order. Let the people in the endurance race pick up the extra cost of the Saturday program. Tis not right to increase our costs to enter solo20's or vintage races AND at the same time reduce the length of the race.

If you're goin to force us into a compromise, then we should somehow benefit from the compromise. I don't think letting us run a HW or MW solo on Saturday is a compromise for WERA at all, nor is it a benefit, in this context, at all. Heck, it's not even maintenance of the status quo.

Keep in mind that other than limiting the grid to effectively remove two of the Solo's we are not changing the amount of track time at all, the Solo's will be cut to 16, and the Vintage races will be 6 no matter what due to the length of CMP. Same problem as Road Atlanta. I already plan to talk it over with Chuck and Ed and see if we can run the Vintage races 8 laps at CMP but with the costs associated with Rd A there is no possibility there (same reason the Sunday sprints at Rd. A are 6 laps as well).

Wouldn't it have been better to try it on just a regional weekend? With all the extra activity at the track with a National Vingate weekend, I don't see why you would schedule on that weekend. Do it on a regional weekend only.

Because there is no such thing as a weekend without Vintage racing after Roebling Road at the end of the month. It would make it easier but as long as there are people wanting to race in the Vintage classes we'll schedule them on all the weekends just like the other sprint classes...

Just checked out the CMP schedule for June with the 2-hour and I like it. Of course this is just my personal opinion and certainly not everyone will agree. On a normal Saturday (if there is such a thing) I would only run 1 Solo 20 anyway, so adding the 2-hour gives me additional track time and an opportunity to meet and ride with new people. Let's give it a try before we shoot it down, and if the schedule doesn't work for you, calmly and intelligently present your thoughts and suggestions to WERA in the form of complete, coherent sentences. Minus the expletives, of course! [IMG]

I agree wera122. I mean lets just give it a whirl and see what happens. Shawn, my dad is probably going to go through Ed's school that friday and maybe race a little on Sat. Any issue with him being my partner for the endurance team for the 2 hour? Not only that it's great seat time.

There would be no problem with PN's running the regional - they just have to do their two weekends before running a National.

    Just curious......
Assuming the regional endurance allows for more than 1 rider, how do we get practice for all of the riders on the endurance bike? I've got three of us ready to team up and race but the bike that we'll be using is not one that any of us run in the Sprints/Solo20's.

    And another thing.......

If the plan is to use the elctronic scoring system rather than the human type, will having data from hand scoring be accepted should the elctronic system fail for whatever reason?
In other words, are we advised to have to have a scorer should the electonic fail or will all results to that point be thrown out. What's the plan....???

Practice - you'll have to figure it out yourselves within the practice sessions we have listed, we'll work with you on getting an extra sticker for the endurance bike but we will not allow unsafe combos (i.e. no Experts on an R1 in the small bike Novice pracitce). We will also keep a very close eye on people ot make sure there's no screwing around with this - if so, penalties tend to be severe when we're doing you a favor.

Scoring - we will use the transponder system. We will also set up the endurance clock and have the normal paper scoring sheets available. If the transponder system goes down then you are SOL if you have chosen not to have a scorer sitting with us. FWIW the only problems we have had all last season were related to one specific laptop which has not been used since and the system has worked flawlessly...

Is the cost of the transponders stuctured into the entry fees? Or do we have to rent these units?

It will be a freebie for the race itself but if you want lap times for the rest of the weekend it will cost you $25.

FWIW all of the money collected for the transponders goes into a separate pot for purchasing upgrades and replacing broken pieces.

Now that you have the events on paper, all you have to do is come to a conclusion on whether to pay a purse, or a points fund, or just trophies, or maybe even a regional championship. Boy, Sean, you sure got an easy job.(Insert sarcastic tone here.)
