Radiator hose question-675R

I began the tear down process of the 675R I just purchased and noticed this hose coming off the reservoir that looks like it leads to no where...I’m assuming it’s for excess air but want to be sure so I can relax on looking for where it goes.

Looks like an overflow tube if its going to expansion can there.

 

Yes, 2 purposes. Air can come in/out as the coolant heats up/cools down, and if coolant does come out, it will come out the bottom of the bike rather than the top. On race-bike, route it to inside the belly pan.

 

This is the info I was looking for. So the hose has no precise location just route it as I see fit?

Route it down the side of the fairing to nothing.
