man I have a tech that would flip your wig on the apostrophe front For example: “checked cable’s, checked swingarm bearing’s, checked tire’s” sometimes I toss and turn thinking of the repair orders I missed, knowing one of those might have ended up with a local English teacher
One that gets me all in a tizzy is people interchanging "sale" and "sell". For example "I have a car for sell" or "I am saleing my car".
Our parts dept. is super clean, organized, and runs like a well oiled machine. However, all of the drawers have labels on them that designate them by drawer number and also the main contents of said drawers. I usually spend about a quarter of my day fighting the urge to change every label from battery’s, bulb’s, and wiper’s, etc. to their un-apostrophied, correct form. All 200+ drawers have at least one wrong apostrophe!
No. Like the general populace functions outside in the real world, and not a government bureaucracy void of reality but full of their own self importance. Cash the check.
Axing people sumthin has been around since the 70's at least. The sale/sell one is the newest I've seen that truly grates on my nerves...
I think you need to Pacifically explain what the issue is? It's so bad, I've become accustomed to it. I used to make my Senior enlisted write awards for their troops, instead of having the young Lt's do it, and the look of terror in their eyes used to make me laugh. Of course they had to rewrite it about 5 times before it met the standard. It's just that difficult now.
Less and fewer are not the same word. There's less traffic today because there are fewer cars on the road, not less cars. And get off my lawn.
