PS: We placed the things up against the rear of the passenger seat for one bike, and up against the left rear door for the other one, with tie-downs pulling forward and down.
I bought one this fall, fantastic thing it is. I use in along with a baxley chock in the front. Works perfect. My first tow i still used straps in the front lightly ratcheted just because i wasn't sure if everything was really gonna work. But sure enough - baxley in the front - pittbull in the back - THE BIKE DOESN'T move an inch.! So now I just roll my bike on to the trailer into the front chock, the back bar clinks into place. I put both levers down in the back, pin and I'm done! I'm gonna get another pittbull setup now for my other bike. Can we get a group buy going or something?
The section of 20 between Atlanta and Birmingham did it for me, back when they were doing a lot of construction. Boing boing boing splat (or so I surmise, as it was hidden in the trailer).
i use a baxley chock and only two tie downs on my bikes in my sprinter van and have never had it move. kurt, you're a liar, i dont believe your bike turned over in one.
Guess I'm busted, so I'll come clean. I'm actually selling Powerchock chocks now and trying to spread rumors about the Baxleys (we have AWESOME contingency and our chocks are NOT copies).
Unfortunately, there are no Powerchuck chucks available at this time. We can, however, take your advance order. Nothing I've said beyond my bike falling over should be taken seriously. There is no powerchuck company, no contingency, and no rumors to be spread. My bike did fall over, and I do recommend securing the stand. That's it.
we installed 6 of charlie's trailer restraint stands last year and they work great......20,000 miles and no problems.....just like everything he makes....typical pit-bull
lwikle What are you doing posting. I know you don't have enough time for this, unless you're stuck in an airport somewhere. And by-the-way Charlie's trailer restraint system sucks. I can't find anything at all to complain to him about it. What a joke!!!!
A buddy of mine has two of them in his trailer. They work exactly as advertised. Simple and easy to use, saves TONS of time loading and unloading bikes. I'm saving up spare change to get this for my van - hopefully, they'll have an adapter for the TZ soon.
drop jeff, nsdq here a note. hes been using that setup for his r1 and r6 for a while. it looks nice. i will say this, it makes rolling the bike a bit of a pain in the ass. it is cool that it works with the rear stand though. it locks into the thing on the floor of his trailer really nicely.
The TZ pin kit exists...if it is not on the website it is because the website guy(me) hasn't put it on there yet(I suck). Come to think of it there are a TON of bikes we have fit that I haven't put on the website yet. Guess I know how I'll spend my Friday morning...if no other fires are in place when I get there in the morning.
I have 9 bikes to load/unload every race weekend. I wish I could find something like this, but a bit more affordable, to help ease my pain. Ah well, the two-fiddys don't have a hollow axle anyway.
Its worth the money in the long run. We have 8 of them in our trailer and it made load up ten times shorter and we haven't had something fall over in two years.
Just curious.... I know the pins are interchangeable, but is there a difference in the stand themselves between bike brands? I would assume they would make the stand itself wide enough (whatever else, etc.) to fit all brands and then the pins would be different lengths to close the space....
The only different one I can think of is the Buell since it needs a different stand from Pit Bull. There was one other bike that had it's own wider stand too but I can't remember what it is...
