It doesn't seem that religious affiliation is necessary to pray for peace. I'm not sure what the point of prayer would be if you don't have faith in some form of 'mumbo-jumbo' though.
Not really. I think that you can easily pray without religious affiliation. What I don't see is what the point would be of praying without some belief in mumbo-jumbo. That is assuming that by 'mumbo-jumbo' one means a transcendent power or force that is greater than the reality we perceive and the existence of which we currently can observe. Without 'mumbo-jumbo' things just are what they are and what difference would prayer make?

For the record, I not talking bad about praying just organized religion. I do belive you can pray to a highr power without swiping your credit card on the end of you pue(?) every sunday.
