I know that I have posted on this topic before and I accept that opinions matter but I continue to exercise choice here and there after some careful assessments. The latest! Yesterday, on work travels back "home," I see an older gentleman trekking down the road about a quarter mile from a park vehicle that I had just passed. So, I pulled over an backed my way to the old guy. I took a close look at what he may have or not have been carrying as I passed and did a detail checked on his demeanor and movement as I backed up. I felt comfortable. I finally reach near him and I see a guy with faded jeans, light gray pocket shirt (housing Malboro reds), with glasses and somewhat still focused on the ground. As he approaches the window, I ask, "may I be of help?" He said, "no." And, went on to explain. He got up in the morning and noticed his top dentures missing. He remembers being at the Casino the night before and driving home. He was now hoping to locate his dentures on the side of the road because he did not want to spend money on new ones. He said, "thanks for stopping" and went on with the search. I hesitated about helping with some monies, after given thought to the what I assumed led to the event. I suspect (pure speculation) that he had been drinking a bit too much and possibly driving drunk and somehow meant to throw his cigarette out the window and tossed his dentures. Before driving away, I made sure that I there we no vehicles coming behind me because I felt obligated not to use the pull off lane for acceleration. I was questioning myself, did I run over his dentures during my attempt to offer help (pull over and drive some in reverse)?
