After 10 years of racing a 2 stroke, I am involved with a 4 stoke race bike. A test in the recent issue of RdRacingWorld, mentioned a ZX10 Superbike running 0-10 wt oil. Is it a typo or are racers running real light grade synthetic oil now? Where would one even get a 0-10 oil. My car takes a 0-40 synthetic and it has a huge rad. Wouldn't a 0-10 wt oil create heat problems

    Advice please.

Many years ago it was all about pressure, we have since learned that high pressure just robs horesepower. Viscosity is a measure of resistance. An oil with a low rating like 0-10 can flow at cold and hot temps. through very tight clearances. Which means building components that can spin faster. Modern oils leave behind a thin barrier(PTFE) that protects metal surfaces. Standard transmissions in light duty trucks now use ATF 15w instead for 90w or 140 w gear oils

0-10 and 0-5 have been really popular with builders for a long time.
