The forks were off the bike. I pulled them and dropped them off. Also, bike/forks were only one year old, so not sure if all seals etc. would have needed replacing.
Also, and I'm just having a winge now... I dropped them off and gave him 3.5 weeks to get them done, as I had to head off for a business trip out of country. Got the wife to go down there and pick them up the day before I got back and it sounds like it turned into a last minute dash to get them done. Doesn't sound like the most organized type. Might ping him on the nut damage and see what he says.
http://www.raceworxusa.com/ Since you are in Texas. Jimmy is great but like most good suspension guys very busy.
If you want to ship your forks, that opens up a whole world of highly qualified people to work on them. You can ship them to Livengood, Thermosman, Joe Kraft, Brad Stokes, so on and so forth.
Yeah you probably should have done some research before you just send your forks up to anybody. It's kind of a big deal. Mike is super reasonable especially considering the wealth of experience you're getting.
Keith Hertell - VonHertell.com in San Antonio. Fork service off bike is $150 + parts on bike is $250+ parts. Can pick up at track near you or ship.
MRP Motorsports in Pasadena, Maryland. Kenny is an Ohlins dealer, great to work with, and supporter of the series!
In my estimation, getting the forks off the bike is more work than basic servicing. but I don't recommend it if you're not handy with the wrenches. If it's just an oil refresh, I do it myself. Sometimes I'll do seals and bushings. But the shock gets done by experts only. Joe Kraft has been my guy for the last few years and he does good work.
