Yessir and no shit?!? Our fathers flew together. He was hired on because they were looking for an IP with combat experience in that jet. His callsign was Rag, yours?
Can’t believe I don’t know it for sure but, either Mickey or Maddog. I’ll try to find out when he was there exactly, I know he transferred out to Kansas City before he left. I’m pretty sure he flew the F-84 at Selfridge as well.
I live a couple miles from Selfridge, pretty sure we do not have a fighter squadron anymore, just the 107th with the A-10's and KC-135's. We were in the running for the F35's but did not get them. We did have a fighter wing at one point not to long ago though.
The 107th Fighter Squadron still exists as the designation has stuck for decades, regardless of aircraft type which now, is the A-10. Regrettably, the F-16 went away about ten years ago, though many of those that flew 'em are still in the squadron. The Stratobladder (135) guys are under the 171st ARF. It's actually one of the older groups as far as the Air Force/Air Guard are concerned, as is 127th Fighter Wing. Back in the day, before track marshals were a thing ...
Just found the story that goes with this. I think he did the right thing. http://reason.com/blog/2018/12/11/vermont-man-flips-off-government-with-gi
That's hilarious. Just to nerd it out a little : VanGogh cut his left ear, not his right as depicted in the picture. A white cable would have made it perfect.
