I don’t like most covers, but there are two that I like a lot better than the originals: 1. Pantera’s cover of Cat Scratch Fever 2. The Ataris’s cover of Boys of Summer Both are way better than the originals, IMHO.
Led Zeppelin's cover of ...............................................................................................
I love Zep. Always have. But I went on a real blues bender the last few years and the originals are almost always better. Check out Willie Dixon's "I Am The Blues." He's not the best singer, but the soul is there. Or Sonny Boy II.
The lawyer that was suing them on behalf of the estate of Randy California calls them "the world's greatest cover band".
Eric Burdon/War's studio "Tobacco Road" is the best version. Dr. John did a ripping cover of Donovan's "Season of The Witch" for Blues Brothers 2000. And the live (on youtube) "Georgia" from Spencer Davis blows Ray out of the water.
