If there is a hell, we'll all be spending plenty of time together. So I'll enjoy the distance while I can and stay away from both.
See the part where I said "those required to pay it". Those who don't pay taxes don't because the tax code doesn't require them to. What I'm cool with is abolishing all income and property taxes but I would settle for a state/federal consumption tax in the interim.
If it's Constitutionally legal and the majority want it then why shouldn't they have it? Apparently the NC thing was important to enough that it got on the ballot as a Constitutional Amendment. Doesn't mean the rest have to agree with it and you don't have to go to NC. I wonder if I can register to vote in NC too? I own land there. My guess is there are a lot of North Carolinians saying to themselves, "Oh shit... it did pass. Maybe we should have voted."
One of the prevailing attitudes is "anybody except Obama" and I'm guilty of that thought. Your idea brings up fears. With Bush it was "anybody except Bush" so we ended up with Obama. Now, it's "anybody except Obama." I wonder who we'll be voting for after, and if, we get Romney? Alfred E. Newman looks better and better.
You better quit that, you're starting to sound like someone who thinks for himself... :tut: Cue the "wasted vote" speech.
