Hell, i'm 29 and i'm starting about mid season this year or definately next year Check the classified listings about the bike...i have seen a few in there for sale but i'm not sure exactly what they were...
You're never too old to start racing! Of course it may take you longer to heal after you crash, but what better way to meet new people and spend all your hard earned money and then some. I'm over 30 and I don't plan on stopping any time soon. (I still have available credit on a couple of my cards! )
28 is too old to start a career racing. You're never too old if you want to race for the enjoyment of it. I'm 30 and I'm just starting. I'll let you know by the end of the year about the recovery time of crashing.
I started when I was 30. Same thing wife didn't want me to but of course I wanted to. Hell with my thinking I was gonna be the next Scott Russell. I was ready to quit my job, yeah right. I am now starting my fourth year of racing. I don't see myself quiting anytime soon. You are never too old. Now the bones take a little longer to heal. But hey, you were having fun when you broke them. Then when everybody asks what happened you can give them details. You know, how you battling for last place and all of the sudden you were on your ass. Good luck, and if your looking for a 400 get on the 400 list to find one.
hey I'm 28 and have been racing for two years the first year broke my ankle and is still healing but thats ok when you get on the track. you don't feel any thing.and my second year I broke my colar bone that healed in a month. i'm not giving up racing any time soon either. I raced vintage last two years and am racing 600,s this year speaking of age last year at road A I got pasted on the strait by a 70 year old guy who just celebrated his 50th year of racing his name is ted hubbard just get on the track you will not regret it.
That depends...Are you talking career change or just taking up a new hobby? According to T-shirt philosophy; "You don't stop racing because you get old, you get old because you stop racing!" ,"Youth and talent are no match for age and treachery..." and "Earth, Sky, Earth, Sky, Earth, Sky...Ambulance!" (huh?)...sorry...uh...where was I going with this...oh yeah, my own philosophy is that there are no age limits! you are only shortning your own life if you choose not to live it! Do what you want! Marry someone gorgous 8 years younger than yourself (I did!), buy the sportbike of your choice (however, novices are limited to 750cc machines), slap on number plates and go for a novice championship! Who knows how far you can go? otherwise, sell yourself short, stay home, don't take risks and you will never know! and you will not have anything interesting to tell your grandkids!
Yeah you're never too old (at least until you can't see past the nose of your bike..) And the people you meet are the amazing part. I got into racing because I liked bikes, and the friends and "interesting" people I've met keep me in it. And unless you've been riding sport bikes for the past 15 years and condsider yourself a "fast guy" go with a 400 or so. If nothing else you won't have deal with the traffic jams of the middle weight class.
I thought I was the only robbing the cradle. Mine is 6 years younger I think. Can't ask her beacuse then she would know I don't know.
Just thought i would add that my wife is 7 years younger than me...and she thinks i'm nuts for even wanting to attempt racing!! Welp, when i do crash i guess i can hear the "I told you so" thing....no biggie
thanks to all you guys who responded. if i dont make it racing this year im definetly gonna be at more of the races to watch and talk to people. thanks again lance
