The change has been approved by the AMA Board of Directors and will go into effect January 1, 2021. New rules for the 2021 season are shown and printed in bold italic type. Update to be included in all amateur AMA Racing disciplines: All helmets must be intact and no modification may be made to their construction that alters the helmet from the condition it was tested and approved. The helmet is made to provide protection and is not a platform to attach foreign objects. For example, cameras or other accessories are NOT permitted to be attached to the rider’s helmet. That actually does make sense from a safety standpoint. Forces in a crash aren't going to go as designed with another object attached to the lid and all. Wonder what lawsuit prompted them to make it formal though?
How the hell am I supposed to "do it for the Gram" if I can't have a camera duct taped to my chin bar? Ridiculous.
So it's still OK for the Supercross guys to have a Go-Pro stuck on the top of their helmets, with it being a "Professional" event and all?
If that's the case it's a load of bollocks. So being a "professional" means that you take more care fixing a Go-Pro to your helmet than an "amateur" does? You either ban that sort of thing across the board or not at all.
So...can you mount a gopro INSIDE the helmet? Maybe somewhere at nose level? What's the worse that could happen?
No I didn't. However, the language states "foreign objects" which by definition is an object that is some place it should not be. Being that Arai designed it's spoiler as an exact fit to it's Corsair, it's not foreign in design or by nature. A Go Pro cam etc.. I totally get.
