I really did learn on this track, well the old falling apart track. It has such a different pace/feel then all the other tracks I've been on. I started racing with a friend at the same time. We leap frogged each other learning from one another. Running :16's initially and after a few years I clicked off a :09xx and he was consistently low :09xx. Damn I was going to write off the track days even though it's so close but now I guess I need the practice. Game on gentlemen game on.

 

6 hour drive from my new place when I move...not bad, not bad...will be nice to turn laps there, this time without losing the fillings in my teeth!

 

You just couldn't find the race line lol. It was about 8-10 inches wide throughout the entire track but it was there.

 

Where are you moving to John?

 

The last year WERA ran there was my first year as an expert. I asked the locals there if they could give show me the quick way around the track as I would be no competition to any of them (I wasn't). One of them said "the line is the one with the least amount of bumps"

I thought he was kidding until I completed my first lap around the track and I was like "Holy fuck I just drove like 11 hours to ride this fucking place"

Then I learned to accept my nuts are going to get flattened after slamming into the seat 14 trillion times a lap, went full bore and had a blast riding there. Couldn't feel my sack for like 3 weeks afterwards

 

Closer to PittRace! So that's a big plus

Yea thats totally true. The lines we would take through 3 and 4 were so unnatural but like you said, least amount of bumps.

 

Feels like it lol. Haven’t been on track since last October when I rode Nelson actually.
I’ll be at Road Atlanta next week. BMW isn’t ready yet I’ll either be on an R6 or someone else’s KTM.

100% repave that place will be fast as fuck...as if it wasn’t fast before when it looked like Baghdad.

 

Did they get new shitters?

 

Unfortunately not. I'm going to try to do the VIR and Barber rounds though. Good luck.
