Since Sam is part owner and I do not know any Ashley there I think you did not have it All Pro or there is more then one. Owners are Sam and James. It's on Keenan Ferry Rd. Across from Joe Davis Stadium.

They are not a dealer either, well at least not jap bikes. They have a used dealer license and sell go karts at christmas. They both came from dealers and have worked together for 25 + years. Both raced wera for long time etc. etc.

I was talking about AllSports Powersports in Decatur. I will try to find the place you are talking about. Thanks.
(update) I found them, they are a little ways off in South Huntsville but will give them a call...thanks. I send the carbs off to have built by the GS Carb Specialist on the GSResources. He didn't really find anything wrong with them but he took them down , cleaned them etc. I have a new igniter coming even though plugs are sparking. I am in the middle of check and adjusting valves (today), I don't know what else to check, coils ohmed good. So if I have air, fuel, and spark, it should run, it has all new OEM carb boots all around from last year.

That has the choke on the left clip on as I recall- any issues getting a good full pull on the cable?
..you have Brand new gas in it right?-draining bowls is great. But don’t just fill them with old degraded gas that has been sitting in tank.

I noticed huge difference in starting dirt bikes with old gas and then—one kick with draining old gas and filling with new...

It has two choke cables to each two barrel carbs. The gas has always been fresh non ethanol. While I’m doing all this (carbs come back today- yeah) I drained the tank...fuel was fine and fuel petcock filter was pristine but I have a NOS petcock going on it today. If the carbs, New ignitor, coils ohmed ok, I don’t know what else to do. I also adjusted the valves, they were all too tight. I will know by tomorrow. Any other ideas appreciated (new plugs too FYI)

Give it a shot of ether/ start fluid in the air box.....see if it fires up.. I know your not supposed to.. mine needed it once in awhile when it sat.

Here is the update...... Got the carbs back from the GS specialist in Ohio yesterday. Carbs looked great and he even recoated the gloss black. While the carbs were off, if you have been following my posts, I checked the electrical, ohm'd the coils. I firmed up the battery negative wiring, replaced the worn fuse box, replaced the fuse block, got a new used igniter, took the head cover off and adjusted the valves (they were all too tight) I went on the loose side of valve specs. Replaced the petcock with a NOS unit. Installed the carbs yesterday, hit the start button, fired right up but rpm's went through the roof, cut the bike off, adjusted the idle and throttle cable (several times actually) and got an idle around 1k rpm. Took it on a one block test ride yesterday. Runs great! I have more valve noise for sure, but I don't think it is excessive, I could readjust the valves but I think I should leave it alone, if you didn't hear it run before you wouldn't likely notice valve noise ( I will take opinions on tightening the valves or leave it be). I plan on a longer ride today but I will be changing oil first.

Congrats on getting it sorted, persistence pays off!
Many have forgotten/never learned the intricacies of getting carbed, air-cooled multis to run well. Lots of good folks over on GSR.
GS550ES is a cool bike. My buddy had one with Megacycle cams, I rode it several times...it was QUICK! Just had to keep it on the boil, no go below 7-8k.
