Hey what's up everyone, I want to start with the basics. I crashed on July 27th and they made me leave in a ambulance because of a head injury (thank goodness they did it was a good one).... Anyways, the ambulance I was in is track owned with their very own paid paramedic. Mid trip, no vitals have been taken yet as I am now conscious and even bullshitting with the paramedics and such. another ambulance starts following us, we pull over. A paramedic jumped into the track owned ambulance and off we went. I even made it to point to say I'm not trying to pay for that extra ambulance escort. We laughed about it and he said it was free in NYST's ambulance. The additional paramedic did nothing but ask me a few questions and the rest of the 20 min ride I was busting balls with everyone about not paying a double bill and sharing falling on track stories with some of the nyst staff. Well, long story short that ambulance company is trying to charge me $958 for that "service". What recourse do I have here? The guy asked a few questions about my surroundings and I pushed off his palm of his hand with my toes on both feet. The dude in the ambulance even told me it was free in NYST's ambulance. I feel like I'm being taken advantage of. I contact the services companies billing dept they tell me since it was a auto accident a third party is the only one that can do anything about it.. call that company they tell me it's the other company. Sounds like I'm about to pay 1k for bullshit though. Or am I being biased? Thanks for any future help guys idk what else to do short of contacting a attorney.

It was NOT an auto accident it was off road. First thing to tell them. Good luck though on the rest. Oh and if YOU are being billed they can talk to you and any statement otherwise is crap.

Most important is you are OK the rest is worth worry but not important

1k sounds like a pretty good deal to have a professional make sure my bell ringing doesn’t turn even worse. Kind of strange they said the NYST ride is free. Noting is free especially emergency care.
Hope you are doing ok at this point.

Ok hold on it may be how I explained it. I do have medical insurance. I was in a track owned ambulance and nyst hires a paramedic to be there for all events. That is covered by the track. Sorry that is the ambulance I was in. We picked a hitchhiker paramedic up that's where the charge is. And 1k would be ok if I had used their service. This is a separate ambulance company charging me. Also, the bill was 27k....they had a field day over charging my insurance with 21k for a CT scan for a concussion. That's neither here or there I just don't want to come off as a ungrateful prick. I just feel my insurance and myself are being taken for a ride with this additional charge for a service I didn't use. Aside from my 2600 deductible that's all it cost me. I ended up fine just a bruised heel bone and mild concussion. I'm literally only contesting the following ambulance.

Did you explain this to your insurance provider? Might be a good place to start.

It's kind of a long story but nyst is actually 100% free. Sorry I have experience with limited tracks I just assumed all had their own ems idk why

This all hit me about a hour ago. I got the call from the 3rd party. The ems billing company is treating it like a auto accident even though I don't have a single paper to that bike lol so I feel it's their way to get someone off the phone they tell me to call the other company. Call the ems company whose asking for auto insurance and a ride Id number. I have neither as there never was actually a ride.

Mine was basically free - just a $250 deductible

That may be one of the funniest things I've ever heard . I would have told this dude to beat feet if all he was going to do is palm my toes and crack jokes.....I could have done that shit for way less than 960

So you're saying one companies paramedic jumped into another companies ambulance and started treating you once you'd left the track? How does that affect both companies liabilty? All sounds a bit dodgy to me.

Right? To make things worse I was more than stable. I'm not under exaggerating at all. He literally just had me push off his feet. I was not treated any way as of like a iv or anything like that at all until my actual hospital stay. He used no equipment, brought no equipment, no bandages etc....idk I feel like this is crazy. I am in the lineman's union so my insurance is really really good aside from the deductible. I feel like everyone's just trying to get a piece of it now as the dust settles months later.

I appreciate everyone's input. I don't comment alot on here but the community seems nothing short of good ppl/ ball busters. I just need some sort of validity before I go all legal Rambo on these bastards.

Just don't pay the bill. Contest it in writing immediately and make sure your insurance co gets a copy.
You're being scammed. You could also report it to the state agency responsible.

That's exactly what I was looking for. I've never had to contact legal advice in my life or even had a issue similar to this is my 34 yrs. State agency being who they get their accreditation from I'd assume? I guess first course of action is contact my insurance tomorrow.

I called them and left a message. Being upstate NY the season is over so hopefully they still will contact me in a day or so. I was thinking getting some sort of literature paperwork stating that I use the tracks service.
