Check the schedule for the north central region: http://www.wera.com/pages/2000sched.htm#North Central Grattan is off the schedule this year since GLRRA sucked up all the dates. What's left is Nelson Ledges, Putnam Park, Gingerman, IRP, and Gateway. There's also Road Atlanta, which baffles me. There's some kind of go-kart race at an airport in Indiana that's gonna let a few select bikes run. Us poor slobs running Clubman and Vintage have been left out of that one.
Thanx. I heard something on here (or somewhere) about Grattan not scheduling WERA this year or something or other....will check out the link though. Thanx again
Grattan has been left out and there is only one Gingerman date, so that beats the cold tracks. I would like to know how many people are going to Road Atlanta for the race down there. I'm trying to get a group together to save on expenses. But as experience has shown, the far away tracks don't get alot of attention. I just hope that when we get down there a bunch of locals don't steal the points Is camping allowed at RA and do they have showers or not???
Road Atlanta does allow camping and they have pretty nice shower facilities. Shannon Huffman DRS Racing Endurance #73
Sorry about the ROad A thing, we wanted to have a decent amount of races and had wuite a few request from riders up that way to make it a crossover event so they would have a reason to come down and get track time before the GNF. They seemed to feel that it made it mroe worthwhile to travel that far if there were points available for their home region. Oh well, we can't win them all... As for Grattan, it was our decision based on the cost of running at Grattan and the fact that GLRRA had scheduled nine dates at Grattan and Gingerman. Didn't seem to make sense to try and put in any more than that since the tracks are an hour or so from each other. We'll probably go back at some point but not if it means throwing away a lot of money....
yeah, what Sean said lol Honestly though, i knew i heard something about Grattan on here, just couldn't remember what and when lol. Is that about the only track not being run in the NC region this season Sean?? Just kinda wonderin....trying like hell to make this season and all...
Actually, I'm surprised more people aren't stoked about the chance to go to RA during the season. I'll admit it is a haul for the weekend warriors wh have to be back to work on Mon, but hey, what are sick days for Seeing as how most of the NC runners have been beggin for a shot at Mid-Ohio during the season, but haven't ever gotten it, it's a breath of fresh air. In any case I'm all for it, in fact, i think it would be a hell of a place to try that 2-hour endurance idea!!!
Wyldkat, there's already a shortish endurance series in Ohio: the Fasttrax endurance series at Nelson Ledges. It's competitive but not so much as WERA. Fields are smaller. FYI, Nelson is a good track to have a first go at racing: it's easy to learn, lots of run-off before you would hit something hard, and the track surface...these days....is actually pretty damn good. It's been improved 100% in the last year or two. 6-7 hours from South Haven. There is also a school there, run by Bob Stanley, that passes the WERA muster, or mustard.
You can contact Bob Stanley at: http://www.fastone.com/ He is a good guy and runs a decent little series at Nelson Ledges. Last year Fasttrax also ran the regional mideweek event at Mid-Ohio just befor the AMA National weekend. Very cool. Nelson is a good fast track once you get past the bugs and the smell...It was still bumpy at the end of the year but rumor has it there has been more repaving. They have the three hour endurance races that you can run solo in the "IronButt" class.
