    Crazy few days.
Joe was discharged 10:30am Monday. Got him into bed and he slept 11:20am thru to 1:45pm.
Gave him his 2pm meds and he dozed off again.
4pm meds time and checked his temperature which was 100.2.
I'd have to call 911 if it hits 100.5
I called paramedics anyway thinking my thermometer could be off a bit.
Once in ambulance he was 100.6

Took him to the ER,h was in really bad shape.
    He'd only been home 5 1/2 hours.

Once 1am came around he was over it. Didn't want to continue treatment in the ER.
Told Drs to remove IVs etc and he was going home.
Dr told me to stop restraining him incase I injured him.
Dr told him if you go home now, you will die.
Joe's said "fine, at least I'll die in my own bed"
    I lost it then.
Joe refused further treatment and I called a cab.
He could barely stand up and I'd have to get him from the sidewalk, up 10/12 steps to his front door. Fortunately the cabbie was willing to help us up.

Got him into bed and he said "it's ok Ciaran, I'm home now"
He knew what was gonna occur.

At 8am Tuesdays I said fookit, I'm gonna continue with his meds. Then I called the BMT clinic for advise. Told me to monitor temp and return to ER if it spikes again.
He was really failing badly and having a hard time breathing.
I had a buddy come over and we got him back to the ER at 4pm Tuesday.

They immediately transferred him to the BMT clinic and hooked him back up to antibiotics etc.

I just got back from visiting and it's incredible the difference in him overnight.
Talking in full sentences and got outta bed and walked unassisted to his chair.

Turns out he was allergic to one or more meds and has Steven Johnson's disease.
His blood is good and his body is accepting the donor cells.

I'm wrecked and it's only Wednesday.

    Stubborn auld bastard.

    @L8RSK8R Do yourself a favor.

Go to Porkyland and get a burrito to go.
Go over to Scripps/Lajolla shores and go walk on the beach until you're away from everyone.
Eat the burrito and just listen to the surf.
take a bit of time for yourself before you go back to help.

You're a good friend for helping him.

Damn dude.... Hang in there. Amazing job. When this shits all done and through, you guys are going to have some payback to inflict over some beers or something. I don't know what I would do if I was in his situation not having a friend like you around.

He just went in for eye surgery to prevent blindness in the future.
Steven Johnson's can cause scarring on the eyes.

    No need yet Rob.
He's in ICU at the moment with 24 hour watch.

They won't let him home until/if his vision clears up after surgery and they see an improvement with the Steven Johnson's Syndrome.

Could be weeks or months before it clears up.
    It's a life-threatening condition.

They treat it as skin burn.

    You're very kind Rob.

We had to hold him down for 3+ hours last night, still attempting to get outta bed and trying to rub his eyes.
Finally strapped him down once fentanyl and adavan mellowed him out.
Drs. Couldn't believe he was still mobile and verbally complaining after the doses he received.
