If I cut the really crispy housing off and gorilla glue the wires into the not as crispy housing, do you think the stator will work? What about the R/R? How long far do you think the battery fuse will last? I bought a 20 pack JIC.

I've had to cut the plug and use crimp connectors before.

That kind of heat is generally caused by a lot of resistance caused by oxidation somewhere. Besides replacing the plug, check for the cause

I have parts on their way here.
I was Getting funny readings out of the stator on the AC side of the volt meter. I’m replacing the stator and the R/R to start with. Ordered a voltmeter for the instrument panel to continually monitor the battery.

The manuals drop tomorrow, so I should be rolling again in a few weeks here.

Got a friend who has been very patient with me on the phone while I trouble shoot this. I am lucky I don’t have the voltmeter gorilla glued to my forehead.

I have no doubt that I could cause someone to take a long plane ride just to do that.

I feel your pain. New stator replaced a few weeks ago. Had to grind the lip off the outer primary in order to pull out the rotor. PIA

Where is the resident electrical guru?

Or is that the cause of this meltdown?

    Too soon? :D

Yep, definitely check the rectifier and regulator or the rectifier/regulator if one piece. Or be safe and replace with a new one. It seems like when one fails the others will as well.
