So what's happening so far? VR46 Academy will be on Grid Suzuki Signs up for another 4 years Where will Acosta go? Aprilia signs up until 2026 as Aprilia Racing Factory Team https://www.gpone.com/it/2021/04/29...no-al-2026-con-un-team-factory.html?related=1
Is he old enough? Is there a minimum age for the big bikes? He's only 16. I think it's more likely someone like KTM, Petronas or even VR46 signs him to a multi year contract and parks him in Moto2 for a year.
I think someone posted that you need to be 18 for MotoGP. So he would have to do at least 1 year in Moto2. And I'm just some guy on the internet but at least 1 year in Moto2 would be better for his development right?
KTM wouldn't mind him winning Moto2 on their bike. And then he would already be a 2x World Champ. Oh the Same as Alex Marquez
Actually the agreement with Aramco or whatever says the riders do not have to be from the academy, so anything is possible. Pretty sure though KTM probably has right to first refusal at this point. ~sent from mobile
I highly doubt anyone will do direct to MotoGP for awhile. Anyway, would love to see him do M2 next year. But how about letting him a couple more M3 races before calling Acosta the next messiah?....
P2, P1 from a pit lane start and P1 again. Have yet to see him pull anything close to a bowling ball maneuver. You need to see more?
Yes. More than half a years worth of GP level results. Fabio was anointed the MotoGP champion last year after the first 2-3 races. That didn't turn out quite as expected.
This ain't John McPhee. This kid is 16 and is laying waste to an uber competitive series straight out of the box. P2, P1, P1 ain't a fluke.
