For those that asked about attractions: check out Barton Springs. Barring rain, it should still be warm enough to swim. I'm attending COTA this year with just the wife (versus normally going with a bunch of friends). We'll see if it's as much fun!
There is no such think as luck. Luck is where preparation meets opportunity. Or so I read on a motivation poster once...
Double check where you might go swimming. I saw this story on local news a few days ago. https://www.fox7austin.com/news/concerning-levels-of-toxins-found-in-barton-creek-at-sculpture-falls
Nothing like getting shitfaced on Dirty 6th... Rainey Street is now the destination for hip young boozers though. Pretty sure both will be crowded with both SXSW and MotoGP going on during the same weekend. As far as the barbecue goes, it is hard to find bad barbecue. Franklin and the other big name joints are definitely very good but I am not sure if the time investment is worth it. I am allergic to long lines though so your milage may vary. If you want to get away from the huge crowds Blacks Barbecue in Lockhart is about 30 min south of the airport and very good. And if you want to start your day off with charred meat, any Rudys gas station has good brisket breakfast tacos along with a few other fillings. For Texmex one of my favorites is Casa Chipala. Chuys is always good as well and they have multiple locations. If you are staying up north close to Round Rock there is a place called Santiago's that has excellent food and knock you on your ass margaritas. Lots of good places to choose from. I am just sitting here hoping the rain and lightning stops soon. Otherwise it may be a damp ride to COTA.
That was what I thought as well. There was alot of "It is this, unless this happens then it is this, but only under certain circumstances."
Agreed. I was happy until the very end, when it became much more subjective to the stewards impressions of how close fellow riders were to the offending party.
