I think it was just bad habits in general. Using the clutch for traction control, heavy rear brake use and I suspect a major reason is because he broke his leg the year before. Cant have your prize TN walkin horse hobbling around on a broken leg.
Now that you say that, I do remember that Ask a Superbike Genius episode and it was something about him smoking the clutch and riding the shit out of the bike lol.
That podcast was fucking great. Awesome interview. I laughed my ass off towards the end when he talked about a certain "somebody" saying he doesn't need a rear brake. He actually rode the bike without a rear brake. Like for real?!?! LOL!!!
If it's the same arrogant interview I'm thinking of it had to do with Jake riding little bikes and learning bad habits at Supercamp
Huge difference between being arrogant and being a straight shooter. I've never met the guy but he comes across as the latter. Also, Gagne now has a superbike championship to his name, so Stanboli was clearly onto something.
I'm sure I'm missing something but this statement doesn't make sense to me... seems to contradict itself. Can you clarify?
I talked to JG32 at nearly every round last year and we spoke in-depth on how much his riding changed via Richard's "suggestions"... The joke is, "if you aren't getting the results you want, two things have to happen - 1) Change what you are doing 2) Change your expectations. JG chose #1 Ken
I'll ask him if wants to do a podcast on it... paraphrasing - he had to learn how to brake and use the throttle (initial) all over a gain.
More like, riding a modern SBK with proper technical feedback that is applicable to the last 01%..... Ken
Failing to make minimum weight in post-qualifying inspection resulted in a penalty. There are other infractions that similarly result in penalties, jump start, for example. Hope that helps.
Agreed but not having a guy use the rear brake all season because of your opinion while he keeps struggling is kinda ignorant. Especially when some guys still do even in MotoGP. There is more than one way to skin a cat. Stanboli certainly seems like a "my way or the highway" kinda guy. Which is a double edge sword.
How is it going to be in the pits with Petrucci? Will you be considered team mates or two separate teams since you are running different classes? Do you already know him? Do you know if he might run Daytona, too? Seems like it will be a fun time in your pits if it doesn't get too serious and shit.
I found interesting about the rear brake. Some people cant ride without it. For other people it doesnt make much of a difference. Guintoli said he didnt use it once the year he won the WSBK championship. But also said all GP guys do, and he HAS to use it on the Suzuki.
Man that would be great if you can get him on the podcast. It would be awesome to hear his perspective on getting that last 1% to make it to the top. Its always been obvious he had the talent. He just needed the direction.
