Trying to save a few $ per month and need a 2 line EMTA modem (according to provider), would prefer a modem/router combo for wireless. What should I get keeping the price under $150. Modems recommended by cable provider: https://www.amazon.com/Motorola-High.../dp/B01JGT2JI6 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N7L06CF...l_980c6rpr6p_e
I rent the Motorola one from Spectrum. Pretty high speed. I get about 100 Mbps download and 50 Mbps upload with it and pay for 200. YMMV.
Sooo, actually I need a modem/router that supports voice as well, and the two I found are these: $136 - scratch and dent item https://www.amazon.com/ARRIS-Reside...6672&sr=1-6&keywords=modem+wifi+voice+xfinity $240 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B...GWKSB&linkId=5b387a3583c02103726b28456d01fc6f I really dont want to spend $250 on one of these fuckers, are there any others out there that can be recommended?
Who is your provider? I know Comcast has a list of modems that work on their system. I use a separate modem and wireless router. Phone is magic jack since we rarely answer the land line. I assure you I did not spend $250.
Comcast. Im wondering if it would be easier to get them separate. We need to have the phone service as both my work when I work from home and my wifes business demand much more than our cells could support.
Define: "Support Voice". Do you need to plug a phone directly into the modem? Any modem will support VOIP. -jim
I had an an issue with older motorola which comcast said didn't support voice and I should be renting one of theirs, I asked her how I could be talking to her right now then? She didn't have a good answer. I bought a newer one from Costco and it worked fine. My router and modem are separate too. I don't like combining them when one craps out you have to replace both.
Fax over VOIP is easy. The VOIP modem has multiple outputs since we have multiple lines and the one for the fax number goes to the fax. Wouldn't be any different with a single output and splitting it like you did with a landline at that point.
I'm just going to post this here because it made me laugh. 01000011 01101000 01100001 01101111 01110100 01101001 01100011 00100000 01101001 01110011 00100000 01100001 01101110 00100000 01101001 01100100 01101010 01101001 01110100 00101110 00101110 00101110 -jim
