Meh, I don't think I had much of a chance with her anyway. I am still okay with her abstinence until the law is amended. Maybe the longer the timeframe the better my chances.

This is why you're going to keep hearing more and more of those stories of women being stranded/robbed/attacked/etc and no man stopping to help them. It's sad really, especially when we're biologically programmed to protect them.

I don't hold doors for them now. Too many dirty looks or attitude when I did the nice thing. Just because I was being nice does not mean I want to bang you.

 

Nice to know his wife threw in the towel immediately. I hope his job is his again now that the lying piece of trash admitted it.

 

I would like to be a juror on his defamation law suit against her. She would be working the rest of her life to pay him.

I will hold door for anyone where I feel the situation is appropriate. Do they have your hands full of stuff? I will hold the door for them and I don't care if they are hairy 6'3" dude that looks like he could play linebacker or a 5' tall blonde gal. If I am leaving through a swing out door and someone is coming in, I hold it from them, as it is easy for me since I already have the door open and in my hand.

Will I run up ahead of some lady just to hold the door for them? Nope unless they are obviously handicapped or carrying a bunch of stuff and I feel it would be way easier for me to open the door than it would be for them to open the door. It is about basic courtesy and has nothing to do with gender or sex.

 

Well this morning my 7yr old held the outer door for me as I dropped her off at school, then for the woman and her three children behind me. I in turn opened the inner door and held it for the woman and her three children and my daughter. It was remarkably timely as last night we were discussing the meanings of courteous and discourteous, and holding the door was the example I used.

The best part? When we were all inside the woman stepped aside so I could check my kid in first, and had her children thank us for being courteous.

Civility. What a concept!

 

I hold the door for folks older than me regardless of gender. The list is getting shorter.

 

I think a big part of it stems from people just becoming more and more miserable in their everyday lives. Happy and content people do not behave like this, whether its by themselves or towards their fellow human beings. As people's lives become easier and more convenient they somehow find a way to be more miserable in turn?
