I usually dont post in this section (leave that to you "more worldly" guys), but I curious to what the feelings are around the country about this. I was watching the show when he said what he said, and I didnt even think of it in racial terms... the fact that the sports media jumped on it the way they did makes me feel like he hit a nerve and what he was saying was true.

Also, I had heard about this but didnt think at the time. The "Rooney" rule (as its called) in the NFL now requires an owner/organization to interview at least 1 black coach when a position is opened on the staff. This is ridiculous, and caused Mat Millon (Detroit Lions owner) to be fined $200,000!! He was so public with the fact that Mooch was going to be his new head coach, that no black coaches would accept his invitation for an interview. What is going on here?!?!?!?!

So, "Team Atomic" do you think his view was racist? Or do you think what he said was accurate?

I bereave this was an innocent (but less then thoughtful) remark and Rush was a victim of excessive political correctness.

On the other hand he is such a right wing reactionary d*ckhead that I really don't care.

Eh, Limbaugh is, was and always will be a tool.

As for his latest comment I'm not saying he's right or wrong but it's BS that all the controversy is crap. PC bullcrap at it's finest.

I don't follow football, but I felt what he said was offensive and stupid. And after I heard McNabb's stats, I revised my opinion and thought rush was REALLY stupid.

Of course he has an excuse, he was on drugs :D

I'm surprsied it took ESPN several days to react

    It's a conspiracy, I tell you!

I have the inside scoop on Rush Limbaugh and his Donovan McNabb remarks. Follow closely, because this is ANOTHER example of The Truth being hidden from the American Public! Unsurprisingly, it was hatched ion the DC area!!

Limbaugh made his remarks to affect the outcome of a football game!

In the aftermath of Rush's blunder, the entire Philadelphia area was in an immediate uproar. Media swarmed all over Da Iggles lockerroom to get sound bites from the players. The players and the owner (!) responded, wasting practice time and diverting the players' focus on the upcoming game with -- no other than -- The Washington Redskins! Washington - where the power is. Washington - where the deals are made that affect our lives AND our wallets!

We all know Washington insiders make their deals outside the halls of government. Those deals have far reaching implications in the life of ordinary Americans, like you and I. Conservatives pressured Limbaugh to make his comments so the DC fat cat could make a mint betting big money in Vegas on this game. The fact that Limbaugh has been fired means nothing to those who will gain millions on this. Rush will still make money. How?? Come Monday, some off-shore bank will receive an 8 figure deposit that has been carefully laundered that will be placed into a slush fund in which ALL the fat cats, including their most recent martyr, have a piece of the pie.

Since this money comes out of Las vegas, who else do you think is involved? Think, people! Vegas is a casino town. Casinos make money for.. the Mob! Those who control the casinos set the odds the bookies offer. The fat cats will make money on this game because the mob will set the odds that will sucker all us common people to bet this game wrong

Now, we all know the guys who control the bookies like to make a buck. So do the fat cats. So now we have the fat cats and the Mob in cahoots to make millions off us poor, unsuspecting masses. This is a conspiracy that makes Iran-Contra, Watergate and the JFK assasination pale in comparison.

I here to warn anyone who wants to put $5 into the office pool to resist this week. Your money will be going to line the pockets of the insiders who already control our lives.

    Now, where's my Prozac???? ;) :D :p

I think Rush's comments were out of place for a show on ESPN but would be considered part of his "insight" on his own show. It didn't help Rush's position in the controversy that his claim that McNabb is over-rated (from which the rest of this builds) is rediculous. He's been very successful with his opinions and insights but only in the realm of his own making. I think he realized that he would either have to change his style for ESPN or leave and he made the smart choice (changing his style at this point would be career suicide). Scandal sells and Rush will reap the rewards from his band of followers instead of ESPN getting higher ratings. I don't think Rush created this situation in a premeditated way but he probably will benefit from the outcome.

George, I think you hit the nail on the head. :D Any self-respecting Iggles fan that sat and watched the first two painful games of the season where McNabb looked like a kid out of high school can sympathize with the "overrated" part of the comment. Bring back Koy Detmer I say.

LOL!!! Did Koy's career last longer than Ty's? Heck, is Koy still the backup? I honestly don't follow his career except to marvel that I think I've seen him more than his Heisman winning brother in the pro's. Amazing what a career Ty mangaged based on hype.

You have to understand, Iggles fans have a real quarterback complex. Hasn't been a decent one here since Norm Van Brocklin. :D

Well, that's if you don't count the Polish Rifle. :p

Since you have some insight to the Iggles.....

I read once that the old Vet had its own police precinct to handle the rowdies at the game. They had holding cells, etc at the stadium. True or False?

If true, was this incorporated into the new stadium?

My favorite Philly quote: "The fans are so tough in Philly they'd boo a cure for cancer."

That's true, they put the court in place after the infamous 49'ers Monday night game in '97. I think it was eventually moved out of the stadium, don't know if Lincoln Field will have one.

    http://www.nestofdeath.com/press/washTimes.html

I used to have season tickets, but gave them up after a drunken female Philadelphia Daily News employee threw up on my head in the second quarter.

I believe every word of what Frank wrote about the drunk writer.

Amazing but true Philly football factoids (Frank or even Nate can verify these in my absence :D ) :

Judge Seamus McCaffrey presides/presided over what was called Eagles Court at the Vet. Most offenders were hit with a $300 fine and costs (running the bill to about $425) and tossed out of the stadium. If they were season ticket holders, they lost their rights to renew their season tickets for the next year. Seamus is now running for Superior Court in PA; PA Superior Court is the first-level appeals court from the county court.

The new stadium has an Eagles court. Offenders refusingto see the judge are given cruel and inhumane punishment: viewing re-runs of last years loss to Tampa Bay in the NFC title game. :D

Koy could play for any team. Da Iggles have him under a 4-5 year deal since he knows the system here so well. The best Q-back at times last year was AJ Feeley. Philly showcased AJ to the Jets in pre-season this year since the Jets had to resort to Vinnie Testoster-- I mean Testic -- I mean Testaverde -- as a Q-back.

Good thing they did not trade Feeley. Why? AJ dates one Heather Mitts. We want to keep Heather here in Philly. Check out Heather Mitts, who is the analyst for the Women's World Cup on ESPN2, and you will understand why. Heather played for the Philly team in the now-defunct WUSA.

Hey Frank - Da Polish Rifle is now the Polish Lip. :D

And whoda thunk da Iggles got the worst of the deal when Sonny Jergenson went to Washington. Rumor had it that Sonny almost knocked out the linemen in the huddle with hangover breath, but somehow he could get the bloodshot eyes to focus and win ball games.

Hey, da Iggles play in a kinder, gentler place. The big new controversy is/was the Great Hoagie Debate. Team managment had banned fans from bringing food into the Linc, claiming it was for security reasons. Yeah, right. That got worked out, ever since managment decided they did not want to get hit by a really bad hoagie made at a 7-11. ;)

Next, it was determined that there are virtually NO drinking water fountains in the new building. Besdies making it easier to charge $3.00 for a bottle of water, it was not a bad idea, considering Philly drinking water come from the Delaware and the Schuylkill rivers.

Anyone who can pronounce Schuylkill correcting gets a free beer from me at the GNF. Bonus beer for correct pronunciation of Passyunk and knowing the location of Fishtown. Offer void for present and former Philly area residents. ;)

The Vet is home to some pretty darn big rats. About the size of cats (Sorry, DaveK). The cats that fed on the rats would make brad seem like a wuss. And ya never went down an unlit corridor at the Vet. It may not have been a planned hall, but rather a crack that had opened wide enough to fool the unsuspecting.

One of my girlfriends in high school asked me to kiss her where it stinks, so I took her to Fishtown. :D

    Old Philly joke.

Extra bonus beer for correct pronunciation of Manayunk. I'll throw in a case for the first guy to get Alex Wojciechowicz correct. :p

Rush is and always has been little more than a self-rightous a$$clown. In reality he is nothing more than a shock jock, Howard Stern with a political slant. Funny thing is that if he had made that comment on his radio show, no one would have noticed.... If he was on the BBS, he would be a troll....

That was a GREAT article...... McNabb is great alright, that's why his offense is 31st???? How many teams are in the NFL now, 32, right?
