No, the double standard. As kids/teens a lot of us idolized those sunset strip glam metal bands. As old men, we now chastise dudes dressing as women. In reality, it's exactly the same - both did/do it for attention and shock value.

Meh, I can't figure out a way to equate grown ass men being trendy with encouraging an underage child to believe they are potentially another gender. YMMV.

Glam metal wasn't "trendy", it was counter culture - shock value. I don't agree with pushing sexual shit on to kids, but every generation tried to push things further than the previous, and this is where we're at :(

Glam, Punk, Rock, Indie Folk, Big Band...all of it was edgy and trendy at one time. Herd originality.

Right. I think all of this is just human nature. Every generation wants to push the envelope and one up the previous. Not long ago, it was immoral to even show a marital bed on television (Ricky and Lucy had matching twin beds) and now you've got nudity and simulated sex on primetime broadcast television. When the counter culture becomes mainstream and acceptable, the deviants have to find something more extreme to set themselves apart. This cycle has been going on forever, and in today's world, with the level of connectivity and information we have, it's happening faster and faster. It usually takes a great calamity to reset things, so short of another world war, pandemic, or alien invasion, it's only going to get worse.
