Details are starting to emerge. Apparently, something failed in the car’s ability to stop and she exited the lake bed, crashing into the terrain, off the course. Supposedly, the wreckage was similar to a plane crash.

I’m curious as to why they didn’t fortify the car with a proper roll cage?

Not sure you can build a cage to withstand those kinds of forces.

From what I'm seeing it wasn't really a car, more a re-purposed fuselage of a F104 fighter jet.

At 400+ mph I don't think any roll cage would survive intact.

Yes. It was a repurposed F104, with no compartment fortification.

I haven’t seen anything related to exit speed, so far. Not sure of survivability, either. But, I think, that may be where some of the public criticisms lie, as sanctioned events require driver compartment fortifications.

She died doing what she loved. These people are on the cutting edge of tech.

I’m certainly not going to sit and recliner quarterback their choices in vehicle and safety design, nor should you.

She fully well knew the risks...

    God speed to her

    Hypocritical much?

I’ve posted in an observant manner, respectful of the loss and efforts. No one here has commented in a critical manner. If so, in your eyes, that’d be one telling them how to do it from their recliner. Yet, you sit in your recliner telling others what they should or shouldn’t do, in regards to this tragedy? GTFO, dude!

You really don't think commenting on the roll cage thing in the first place wasn't that? Seriously? How do you think it should come across?
