I don't mind the winters here. I wouldn't want them to be worse or longer, but I don't dislike cold temperatures or snow as line items. What's bad about winters here is the people and how they conduct themselves in the city and on the roads. But that's the case everywhere, regardless of climate.

I always joked that my litmus test for a particular area's temperament was how long it would take for the person behind you to honk if you didn't move when a light turned green.

I'm with you, my family lived in Aroostook County, Maine when I was young. It was beautiful. My current home in the Pacific Northwest is the only place I've lived that I like better. I've led a nomadic life all around the country so far as well.
