How do you support friends who are pretty much crazy?

I'm cynical as hell and totally anti-conspiracy, apolitical, etc. I would say bordering on losing their mind, for sure. Its a loop that keeps repeating. Things get better and reasonable, then whoops, back in the crazy loop.

 

Anne will be fine, have some faith. Talk then.

Between this and a snake this place has delivered this week. Just before the Ridge was about having me move on down the road.

 

The best part about getting older is you don’t have to pretend to like anybody anymore. Have one more talk and tell him to cut the shit. If history repeats itself then check out and sleep well with a clear conscience.

Oddly enough, it seems like a real friend shouldn't listen to one unnecessary word.

We’re all susceptible to conspiracies sometimes. If I ever went too deep, I know I could count on a few friends to slap the shit out of me and tell me I’m being stupid. Be that friend.

The internet is the problem. It's easy to find three (or three million) other like minded, easily led by the nose loonies, who believe the same crap conspiracies.

 

There is a friend I have known since I was a teenager. It sounds like you're talking about him. He has worked and supported himself but the stuff he believes is cuckoo. In the end I just feel sorry for him.

 

Shutdown the Dungeon™ and see what happens?

 

If he's truly a friend, he'll understand when you tell him to put a cork in it.

 

If the friend is good, then has bad episodes, the friend really needs to be talking with professionals about what's going on.

You can be a friend, and listen to the crazy, calm them down when they are going off, but you can't help them stop the cycle. That's what professionals and if necessary meds, are for.

I'm sure the friend has already been told to "harden TF up" "man up" "cowboy up" and such many, many times. It's probably adding to the problem.
The beeb is great for many reasons. As a route of therapy, I don't think so.
