No, my dad is the drone nerd. He has a high dollar Mavic Pro that folds up and has a mode that will follow you without controlling it. He had to go get a FAA license to fly it.
I watched some drone racing at the same field area my kid did practice at. Cool as shit and FAST but I understand why they are banned (and will get you arrested) at most of the local fields.
