Hard to believe it's been almost 15 years since the last AMA 250 race

It's sad that there was once enough support to have a class of 30 finicky, expensive machines race at once. Love it. MA is on the right track though.

Maybe Wayne would back a 250cc two-stroke historic support class during MA weekends :)

The question was always who would finish second because Rich Oliver was so dominant.

Ahh the smell and the sound of the 90s. Road Atlanta on the back straight right before you drop into the gravity there was a photographers spot on the outside of the track that I remember soo well. The sound of a Lee Acree's RS250 at full chat was almost evil but so captivating. Damn that was the bomb!

F USA was anything but the Rich Oliver class

    Tray Batey
    Michael Martin
    Fritz Kling
    Kurt Hall
    Ski

    etc., etc.

I think he means RO97 on the 500cc GP bikes along with that South African dude (Robbie Peterson?)

I was lucky enough to acquire the 5KE TZ250 that Ed Sorbo campaigned in the final year of the class.

Faulty memory, I guess. I seem to remember him winning in there a lot.

Are all these bikes rotting away with the XR1200s of a few years ago?

I have several... lots of people have them stashed in offices, garages and basements, or are still running them in F2 or track days.

But, a lot of them have gone over the pond for strong money.

Just as hard to believe is that Barber is already 15 years old as well.

    Damn, I’m old. :(
