I'm looking for a race fairing to put on this (sort of) FZR:

Anybody have something that doesn't have 8 pounds of crappy repairs?

I have a full gently used track fairing set for a Kawasaki ZX6R (2013-2016). It's either Sharkskinz or Armorbodies (not sure). Matt unpainted. I was going to take a shot at fitting it to my FZR400 but decided to stick with stock in the end. PM me for pics if interested.

Thanks for the offer, but I'd like to stick with something I know is going to work. I already have two non-fzr fairings that I bought and tried to fit and got nowhere. :P

One of my FZ600s has ZX6 fairings on it and they fit pretty well. I think they are from the earlier gen ZX, before 2013.

Does anyone remember cam timing numbers? Back in the day, Tim from AOD set me up with some Jeff Short specs that I have since forgotten... I do remember using an intake cam on the exhaust and an exhaust cam on the intake. I do not remember the timing numbers or the cam specs(my ex-wife took all my notes)... I sure would like to know the details as I am about to build another motor similar to that speck if I can get the cam details right. I also have some motor bits if anyone is interested... Ti valve retainers with less than one season on them from RD. 400 1mm over OEM pistons & rings! 600 rods peened and cryo frozen. and lots more.

I'm not sure how this is going to copy and paste in here. I make no claim to accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose etc. I copied this a long time ago from somewhere, don't recall where. I am attaching the Excel file as a .zip which I hope works, otherwise I can email it to you.

Thanks, Peter that's good stuff. Has anyone used 103'in and 103'ex timing? Dose anyone have any advice on this setting. Has anyone used 600 OEM cams in the 400?

AOD ran FZR400'S not 600's. They may have at one point but went to the 400

I know that they raced the 400 as well as the YZF600, but I thought that they popped in a couple of 600s at some point. I only read up on them as I started racing in 2002, so I'm not terribly familiar with their specific details, only what has been available on the web.

I'm cool being wrong, as they say that memory is the second thing to go. Damned if I can remember the first thing to go...

They did a hybrid stroker that came out to 545 cc (I think). 600 crank, 400 cylinders, with a spacer underneath.
    (something like that...)

It doesn't. When I raced mine I didn't have it. When I briefly considered racing with CCS they required it but I believe it was because they assumed it was the same as an R6 which does need one.
BTW a cbr600 F2 rear wheel gives you a lot more options for back tires. I did my own machine work on my wheel conversion and would be happy to share what I know.

FYI, it's really easy to pull the tumblers out of the gas cap lock cylinder so that you don't need a key to remove the cap. You can keep the lock intact, but you won't need a key if you remove the tumblers. Should be your first mod before you go to the track. And you can also mod the ignition to remove the tumbler and just use the rotating switch for power. I believe that you could even wire the kill switch to act as the ignition switch, but I never got that far with mine.
I removed the bottom portion of the ignition switch and epoxied a little tab to act as the key in this picture:

a few years ago we where getting my fz750 ready to go out for practice (uscra 3hr. ) and a co-rider askes how we turn it on. I say " the key in the ignition". ended up doing some wire cutting.

The good old days: red wire to brown wire. No resistors, no spinning key obstructions.

    Another 88 fzr400 1WG question. See pic.
Anybody know what purpose these little air jets serve? I'm missing the brass air jet on the far right of #1 carb. You can see the brass threads inside.
Would this cause any carb issues and does anyone have an old carb body with these parts. There doesn't seem to be a separate part # for these under the Yamaha parts list. Cheers.

Air Jet (#130) part # 830-14231-26. See pic. If that's the right part #, it's discontinued. Are airjets interchangeable with early fzr600 or other models,? maybe a different jet size but with same thread. Air jet setup on outside of carb near venturi does not seem consistent on 88/89 fzr400's. Any feedback would be great. Thanks.
