Soo..What are you guys using for gps these days? My garmin died,and Im looking to replace its corpse.
It wasnt a trucking gps,but got me there,or close.Should I just get another ,or do any of you have success
with a trucking setup that has been true to you.
My only complaint about the trucking gps is I have never heard a good review on any of them consistantly.
They all seem to lack in one department or another,Thanks! for any reviews

 

I have my garmen 720 truck GPS, and I use the company GPS on the Omnitracs.

I currently dont need gps,but my old job has become available,with some new stops.Im considering it,but dont know if Im down with the on board camera looking at me.Its home daily,new trucks,but God I hate the big brother eye on me.

I go to lots of places trucks shouldn't be to make deliveries. Even a couple beach front mansions in East Hampton NY.
Use Google maps on my phone, if it tells me to turn and I don't like the road I'll find another. After awhile you learn when to ignore it and do your own thing.

I dont play with cameras.Too many arm chair twats looking over my shoulder.Trust me,my driving,or F-Off.

 

Ive delivered to docks that only allowed 48 box trucks.I also learned to make my own decisions,and look for tandem traffic in grass and area roads,tree damage.
If I dont see evidence of previous truck traffic,I steer clear..

Go to work with a small company.
After the drunk driver in Gastonia feb2016 I bought dash cams for me and my boss. I love it. I also have the option to turn it off though.

My boss even let me install my very own ELD. I do miss doing logs on my laptop though, .loose leaf on a hard drive.

 

Unfortunately some places I go I'm the only truck that's been there. Be careful .Those may be my tire marks and broken limbs .

Delivered to this oceanfront cottage one day. The garage has glass entries on 2 sides and built into a dune shape. The neighbors were none too happy I was there and called the local police, .Leo female was a real pain, watched to make sure we had someone flagging traffic. Lmao. A whole 4 cars the hour I was there.

A place I went today,

Bunker Hill Rd, Watertown CT.
I turn the road before and go thru a tight curvy residential with bolders line the road so I can pull up facing east to the landscape supply, then up steep hill to unload. Turn around in there potting area and back out the residential Rd again. Option b is use a 4way stop to turn around to go up the hill. I tell my boss all the time, . Just tell me where to n where to stick it .
