That scorpion doesn't stand a chance judging by the size of the beak on that snake. What the hell kind of poisonous, pecking snakes they got out there?
I was in nm for a while..one morning we stopped at this little store on the side of the road. As the group of us are getting out of the truck someone noticed this big rattle snake in the parking lot near the front door of the store. No one would get out of the truck. Apparently the only solution the guy who was driving could come up was to run it over.
Came up through Moab, and into Colorado . Both make me feel very insignificant with the wide open spaces.
+1. 4 of us in a 36' Pacearrow and trailer, took I-80 all the way across the country to Miller in Utah in '09, starting fom Cincinnati. Wyoming was pretty damn awesome. We'd see a spec, a building in the distance and try to guess how far away it was......Eh, maybe 2 miles or 3 wouuld be the guuesses...pffft, it'd be like 20 miles away. Marlboro men, (real cowboys) rustlin' cattle and shit. The trip was better than the races on sunday....80 and sunny on saturday 40's and rainy on sunday.
I used to live in the mountains just West of Eisenhower Tunnel. I presume you were able to take the tunnel & didn't have to go over Loveland.
You won't be able to escape the heat too much if you're stopping close to Denver. It's just below 100F today in Boulder. I was putting a grill together yesterday in the sun and the thermometer said 114F in direct sunlight!
Which would make you feel the safest in a truck stop: 1. No security? 2. Unarmed security? 3. Armed security?
Not possible. Guns in the truck is a federal offense. No knifes over three inch blades. All you can have is a tire thumper.
Flying J in Indianapolis. Lot is full, and the guards are armed, so I guess they have needed armed guards before. That is what worries me.
You would be surprised how many drivers carry. If your at the one on 465 i used to stay at there is a waffle house with parking that should be a lot more quiet.
