SMDH.......the keyboard and an episode of [insert LE show here] is all it takes these days.

That was an amazing retort, you crushed it again, dude!

I'm just amazed you can actually type all these replies in between picking up trash cans from home to home.

At least one of us is making a difference in our community and providing a public service.

my mistake for assuming you weren't such a child that i had to hold your hand and explain to you AGAIN that the last 3 pages were talking about asset forfeiture in lieu of an actual crime or arrest. stop being a fucking baby. you know what everyone in here was talking about and decided to pick and choose and omit words in each response and half respond with a bunch of verbal diarrhea nothings. probably do that with your evidence submissions too.

generally, you need a warrant TO search somebody's personal property... unless $50k is sitting on the front seat of a car in plain view with a bow tied around it. that's the whole point... you get a warrant after investigating... then take the stuff as evidence... that's what a dozen people have now just said a dozen times. the core problem here is the taking of the stuff with no PC and/or no charges or arrest, and thus, no guilt of a crime, you twit.

and now you're gonna say you don't work hand in hand with a ADA or DA to indict somebody? you knew what i meant... AGAIN. but thanks for cherry picking words out of context... AGAIN. i'm glad you quit your day job. the streets are a little bit safer now without your ineptitude. traffic violations are running amuck without your ever watching presence out there.

still failing to be convinced that you get to keep random money or stuff as you deem fit with no actual crime being committed. he can ignore that all he wants with his lame comebacks, but he keeps ducking and weaving away from that point. but hey... cops are real dumb, and stubborn in their ways. they'll keep on poking the bear for some more years to come and eventually it'll bite em'. dis me waiting patiently...

You should and will absolutely have to explain large amounts of cash on you - more so in certain neighborhoods. Nothing wrong with that at all. The issue with the laws is the lack of ability to get your money back - not in the cops being suspicious when you're doing suspicious shit. There is nothing remotely wrong with profiling.

He insinuated I was a garbage man so I rolled with it. I make tech and media - adding to the noise of the world while entertaining the masses with novelties and digital incentives.

Pretty much, but the type of musical greeting card where a brand says I love you to a million people at CES or the SuperBowl.

There are cases of officers sitting on the “money side” of the highway and not the side where drugs are known to travel that direction. So they are intentionally targeting cash seizures in those cases and sometimes law abiding citizens get caught in this dragnet. I agree that the ability to retrieve the funds should not lay the burden of proof on the citizen but on the police.

Yup - and on thread topic - I have even helped Ford to very successfully launch the Taurus and Explorer Police Interceptor with marketing, website and demo events to dept's across the country before the rollout. Political campaigns and porn are about the only things off limits I can think of.

So all those evil fuckers are cool so long as they put cash in your pocket. Good to know where you stand.

Just don't let it be too much cash at once

 I was actually worried about getting paid in cash (or ???) once the Italians bought Chrysler. Fiat regularly sent 2 or 3 guys at a time in track suits and pony tails to pick up assets for the NAIAS in Detroit that year.

On a moderately serious note, I'm not hardcore FTP at all and grew up with an officer who was shot and killed (about 15 years ago now) while chasing a fleeing robbery suspect. I have also had many, many positive interactions with officers - none of which offset to the two times an officer has pulled a gun on me on my own property. I'm more of Fuck Police Apologists kind of guy - especially if the apologists are themselves police. I expect police to be held to an extremely high standard, drop the brotherhood silence bs, and truly serve the public. It's a really tall order and I firmly believe that police are grossly underpaid and our standards for officers are even lower. My little league baseball coach was cut from the Detroit Tigers for being too fat in the Cecil Fielder days...he joined the Toledo police dept instead.
