Had this conversation today... this is me throttled back and with full filters. In less that 10 years I get to take the filter off
We’re too small to go public. Johns not hurting either. I believe the same thing happened to George Zimmer of Men’s Wearhouse.
The pendulum swings both ways and it happens to be biased in one direction now. I don't see it lasting 10 years. My HR rep at work said she's seeing the consequences of it now with male managers not wanting to travel alone with female co-workers and meetings with male managers having a rep in the room when in discussions with female direct reports. The long term implications are that women won't be considered for positions with multiple applicants although currently the company I work is pushing women, minorities and veterans at the moment to pump up their numbers for gov't contracts. I just hope my business takes off more so that I don't have to deal with any of it.
I dont know a single male salesperson or executive who will meet with a woman behind a close door alone. Either the door has to be open or there has to be another person. Some are also secretly recording meetings as the penalty for illegally recording is pretty minor. Sad as this hurts women's careers.
I won't meet with any of my employees behind closed doors if there isn't another person there. This morning I had a reprimand meeting with a male tech - I left the door open despite the sensitivity of it - and not to protect myself from him.
