I found an '05 749r with 1600 miles I'm thinking of buying. It looks like a clean bike, has some small mods and an exhaust. I don't know its service history yet, but will assume it needs belts. The bike's on ebay. I had a 749s for a few years, so I know a little about these, just not much about what they cost now.

Here's the question. What should I be paying for one of these?

    Thanks guys.

I have one set up to race, with 750 miles on it... Great bike . Would not take less then 10 g for it... So smooth

^ Thanks, that's about what I was thinking. After looking round a little more, there's another '05 about 20 miles from me with 1800 miles on the clock. Guy's asking 11k for that one. Maybe I'll get a look at it this weekend.

    Tree fiddy!

Wow the R that much more valuable than the S?

Yeah. The R has Ohlins suspension, forged wheels, different engine, radial Brembos, different gas tank, ect..

Gotcha. I knew the heads were different (only difference in the motor right?) and the ohlins. But seems I remember seeing S's for around 5. So was kinda shocked at the R's bringing double the price.

I'm pretty sure the engine it different all together. I think the R is more over square, and has Ti rods and valves, different cams, ect. They do bring a lot more money, but to me it's worth it for the suspension/brakes/wheels.

Sorry for the thread jack but I have an '05 that's been sitting in the dining room and I'm getting ready to put on the market. I'm ready to negotiate so PM me if you want info on it.
