    I said that since day 1. Kim Jung Il is a sick bastard that just wants some sort of attention from the west.

    It's a win win for him. If the UN imposes sanctions he now has more enemies to rally his people against. He won't starve but they might.
    If they give in, he can show his people that he can manipulate the world.

    There was no monitors from around the world to monitor the tests and a blast that size is easy enough to do without the blast being done with a nuke.
