Could any one point me in the right direction of what could be the culprit?

I've read that it could be the coil, fuel pump, or maybe stator.

What should I try and test first?

I should ad that when cold it starts fine. When warm doesn't want to start again.

How much time is on the motor? Very possible it's tight valves. Do a compression and leak down test. If low, pull the valve cover and check clearances.

When it's hot, do you have spark?
