3rd Google hit is "lammergeier kills man", probably the guy in the first pic above. I read a story where a french lady fell off a cliff, vultures swooped, and they left nothing but a few bones and her clothes by the time the group had descended to her position less than an hour later.
It's a bearded vulture. They grow to be 4 feet tall. Can live up to 45 years. And supposedly DO make pretty good pets.
