Bombshell... The Dakar moves to Saudi Arabia. Just when all of the South Americans started to really get into it. I am assuming that money talks and the Saudi's provided the money. https://www.dakar.com/en/overall-route
Yeah, but I didn't see a thread or even a post about it, so thought I would put it out here. If I missed it and this is a repost, I will take it like a man.
The irony of this race ending up in the middle east when threats from Muslim extremists is what drove it from Africa in the 1st place Hoping the terrain is more reminiscent of the race when it was in Africa. If so, Loeb may have a harder time. He was pretty dominant on the WRC type stages. I'm not a fan of Nasser but he's got to be the favorite now Anyone know who the US TV rights are with for 2020
Dakar starting event in the youtube thread. There is also Africa Eco about to kick off https://www.africarace.com/en They do daily stage updates (in English) on youtube. It's a cool race.
5 hours of it if you start at the beginning. With all the South Americans and the language barrier the poor chick is like "No English? Arabic? Well I don't speak Spanish" I skipped around and I didn't see your boyfriend, not sure he was there or not
My Xfinity guide says "American Ninja Warrior" from 3:00 - 8:00 pm today on NBC SN. Rally begins tomorrow, Sunday 1/5/2020. Search shows first show on NBC SN at 5:00 pm EDT. Just set my DVR to record.
Not sure if the terrain will compare to South America. If so Alonso has a steep learning curve. No Robbie Gordon again. Guess he's done with this race.
Red Bull TV coverage is pretty good. https://www.redbull.com/ng-en/events/dakar-rally-saudi-arabia-2020
American Ricky Brabec is 1st on the bikes with a 15 minute lead. Short and Howes are in the top 20, but over an hour back. American Currie in 2nd for the Side by Sides. Still very early and a lot will happen between now and the end of this thing.
