I just absolutely had my head blown out by a band and I had to relay since, well, Refused. The Armed. Their Ultrapop album but, holy shit. . . I'm, I just don't even f@ckin' know! Dude, go to yougores and watch Heavily Lined from jump street and do not skip ahead at any point. Right?
At first I was like 'uuuuuhh" and then I was like "ooooh and then I was like "yeaaaaahh!" The most punk thing I've seen in decades. And I just sent it to my 15 year old daughter. If she doesn't love it she's disowned.
Jed, Right? I had no idea on what was going on in the first 20 seconds. . . . I was hooked by minute 2 and now I'm slinging. Only way I can understand it is as if Husker Du was doing sides 74 and 75 of Zen Arcade. It really is that shocking.
Unfortunately I don't see or hear any remote similarity in slightest to anything skinny puppy. Only reason I looked. Nicely shot videos though.
"Mom! Dad had a stroke! He's listening to that weird crap again!" I was playing Negativland, the Armed and Refused to just annoy the f@ck out of her (she's listening to a lot of "classic" rock lately).
ehhhhh, it includes more stuff now. Foo Fighters, Tom Petty, Ramones. . . plus Zepplin and the old shit. It has it's place and I'm opening up to Zepplin again after HATING them for 30 plus years. but it's place isn't in the car coming home from practice when you want to piss your kid off.
They good. Not my cup of tea though. I’m not super into pure grindcore/modern hardcore If it’s going to melt my face I need it to blow cool air on it from time to time. And/or do it at the same time. I like the refused because there’s many elements of other genres in it as well as odes to the old school style of hardcore and punk. While the armed are technically masterful, they just don’t have that element of elegance that i like. Most modern hardcore is just pure technicality and noise. If you like the armed check out the Locust. Their video for AOTKPTA is pretty cool
John Zorn and Naked City did that 20 years ago. Check out their song called "You Will Be Shot" and thank me later, @Dave K .
