Yeah, Tennessee is full. They just add to the overcrowding.

Thanks to Tennessee U. For blowing up my ncaa bracket. Typical Rick Barnes underachievers.

Ever make it up into Beloit? I grew up about 10 miles west of there. Haven't been back in ages. Was wondering what it has turned into.

Last time I was in Beloit two years ago it was run down even more then prior. There are some newer nice houses being built out by BHF raceway but the town itself is an eyesore that progressively gets worse and worse.

Blackhawk keeps getting better and there are more options for food and gas on the roads leading to the track. What is a Beloit

No idea. But Blackhawk is a track that I would lap you. :)

Be SURE to remind them what they're leaving, the how's and why's it became that way, so they don't spread that cancerous ideology down here......PLEASE!!!

Well there's like 27 (not WERA) rounds there this summer and I think you'll find me a very predictable back marker

First track I ever raced on. Can hear the track activity from my parents house.

Must had lived in the Newark Township. Drive through Beloit every day to work. Had a triple shooting a month ago. Live 15 miles north of Betroit (god the residents HATE that nickname. Wait until I start calling it Beloitgandishu. :D).

Downtown area is looking nice. The old Beloit Corp building was renovated into new office and light industry now called Ironworks Campus. The old Kerry building downtown is being torn down right now (Kerry moved out to the interstate area at 90/43). The powerplant is being renovated into a fitness center for the college. Riverside park and Riverside Blvd were redone and really nice. The Mall is now the Beloit Library and Eclipse convention center. Gun Club restaurant burned down in 2010. A casino is planned over at Willowbrook and Colley Rd on the SE side. Parking deck over the river is gone also (and Janesvilles is gone now to)

Bad areas are still Switchtrack Alley, Merril neighborhood, Roosevelt/St Lawrence Ave area, Section 8 apts behind Walmart area along the interstate (across the street from the old Manor restaurant which now is gone). West side is getting bad now also. Most the time the trouble is caused by the Rockford scum bags coming up to this area.

Newark Township. Ayup. Dad used to work at the Beloit Corp. Riverside park...hmm, a bunch of hood rats tried to jump me when I was walking along it on 51 one night. Had a flat on the bike and was walking to the hospital to get mom's car. Thankfully someone who just happened to be driving by stopped their car, opened the door and told me to jump in. Close call.

I told mom I'd come up to see her in July....will be interesting to see how things have changed...

    Legitimate question:

I'm all for gun rights. I truly believe that an armed society is a polite society. However, Chicago has me wondering if this is true. Apparently there are guns everywhere, and yet they're killing each other wholesale. What give?

    Key word, society.

Those gang bangers don’t believe they are part of normal society, they are in “the game” and know their life expectancies are low and best case outcome is jail vs a dirt nap.

Firearm safety and appreciation as a required class in Jr. High would make a world of difference.

Although we are talking about parts of society as a whole that have dropped out of school by then...

Scroll down to "Race of Victim/Assailant".

It's basically all criminal on criminal crime.

This. You've disarmed the law abiding populace. The guns are everywhere with the criminals and no where else. But at least they're usually limiting themselves to killing each other.

No discussion about any underlying reasons other then “if it were whites kids doing this there would be national outrage but because they are black people let them do it.” And of course the hard working diligent police men and woman who are hero’s are feeling unappreciated for all of the sacrifices they are making for the greater good of inner city Chicago. When will either side take any reposibility or have any accountability for the environment they have both help to create.
