Can you believe in God and not the Devil? Is it possible? How? Why? Why not? I had a conversation with a friend the other day about this. He strongly believes in God, but not so much the Devil as an actual being or entity. What he said was that to him, the Devil/evil was simply the manifestation of sin itself in man. Not due to any supernatural being. He defined evil as the absense of good. Because man was given the gift of free will and independent thought, man does evil things on his own accord, not necessarily at the prompting of some particular being? It made sense to me, but then my faith isn't the strongest either. What do you folks think? Is it possible to believe in God without believing in the Devil? Thanks, MG
I asked the Flying Spaghetti Monster your question, and he assured me that there is, in fact, garlic bread.
I had a Catholic friend growing up who's father didn't believe in hell or the devil. I don't believe Mormons believe in hell. I don't know about "the devil". My views on hell are quite mixed and I come from the "hell fire and brimstone" type churches. I fully believe in Satan and demons, but I do question the lake of fire.
Is it possible to believe in God without believing in the Devil? If I ever believe in either, please double my dosage.
