First the game changer, Monkey. Now this retro redux. Way to to Honda, you’ve solidified your position on manufacturing lame bikes.
Honda knows what sells. I know people that have never looked twice at a motorcycle but bought a Honda Monkey or Grom cause they look cool and are cheap as hell.
They probably re-developed these for SE Asia, where their market for scooter-type shit is magnitudes higher than their entire US market. We ain't the only monkeyboys on the planet.
Well, I am the proud owner of 2 Monkeys and a new Trail 125. Waited a year for the trail, already got someone willing to pay $500 over retail. As for the Monkey, its way cooler than a grrom and I have the fastest colors, blue and red.
Sold my other MOnkey for $4200 2 years old. In other words, small shit sells. Under 500cc street legal bikes are like one of the top selling bikes in the USA. Seriously. Even our country.
But the answer is yes. I cannot remember the model but they had a plastic version of a 50 that was SUPER lame in the 70's My brother might remember its model, a neighbor had one. It was even to lame for hipsters to think fondly of.
Thinking outside the box puts you on the top of the box. Or in the box. Depends on how badly it goes.
