1999 Suzuki GSF 1200, speedometer needle bounces and goes wildly all over the place, sometimes works normally. Got pulled over yesterday cop says, 'you know how fast you were going?' I answered, "Either 80 or 155, not sure." He was not amused.

I've replaced the cable, checked it is mounted properly, but still have the same issue. Is there a fix or somewhere that can do a fix for a speedo with this issue? Thanks.

I'd imagine inside the tachometer there is a wound up coil spring like in a lawn mowers pull cord. Probably worn out but I'm sure others will know for sure.

Except it says that they only do Kawasaki KZs and H1/2s?

I found a guy a few years ago that could rebuild the one on my GS750 but it was $375. For that price I just go by the tach.
