Its absolutely absurd out there. Been looking around for a daily driver truck and anything decent even in a RCSB (by decent I mean 5 ish years old, 40ish k miles) is banging on 18-20 grand. FFS, my mortgage is only $125 / month!!
Not really. Our dealership is located about an hour from Atlanta, in a town with a population of about 13,000. We just draw from all over the United States. And I'm not saying people are smart with their money either. I'm of the assumption most folks I see won't ever have enough money to retire on comfortably either. But that's not my problem or concern.
I suppose we aren't all meant to be in sales or finance... There is no way I could watch someone destroy their financial future without at least mentioning to them that they can't afford what they are about to do...
Well, in fairness, they can certainly afford it. Doesn't mean they're saving money properly, investing for retirement either. If we used that mentality, then 90% of racers would probably need counseling I'm assuming. I don't get into people's personal finances. Too personal.
I think you're right, Kris. So many people these days don't seem to be saving jack shit for retirement. Just the other day I saw a story on the news that said millennials are NOT saving for retirement because A) they believe that by the time they get ready to retire, the USA will be a socialistic government and the gov will take care of them; and B) they want to enjoy themselves NOW, and have all of the things that they want NOW, while they're working. They don't see any value in denying oneself any of life's pleasures NOW just for the sake of saving for retirement.
This what i found as well. I needed a new vehicle to drive for work, outside sales. I was thinking a couple years old, with 20-30K miles and save a bundle on new. Looking at 4x4 silverado double cabs. Dealers wanted 25-30K for 2-4yr old trucks with 40-50K mi. Ended up witha 1yr old truck from GA with 18K on the clock for less than I saw around here for 3-4 yr old trucks with double the miles. New truck prices are stupid...
She got the sedan. She really likes it so far. I love the sound of it. When we test drove them, surpisingly the C43 sounded better than the C63. She almost always hits the button for the exhaust cutouts. The 0-60 is faster than my Viper was, it's 4.1 for this little rocket.
So what's the best state to purchase vehicles in? I too am in the market for a truck... really like the Denali 2500 truck but cannot stomach to cost of one. Yes I can easily afford one but I rather buy a porsche or simply travel. Lol Only want a truck so that I can tow my toys during track season. Looked at the 1500 series but their tow capacity seems limited to 8-9k. The toy hauler I want gvw is 12k . I'm finding crazy deals on uses toy haulers full size for under 10k however, trucks are freaking +50k used and several years old. Thought about getting a 2500 passenger van but the wife hates the idea. FWIW I like the chevy/GMC over fords. Thoughts?
Dallas area has very high car prices. When my car got totaled it took me 3 months to find a vehicle at a decent price. I should have just flown into Atlanta and bought a car at a decent cash price and driven back.
It depends what state you live in, as different states have different emissions requirements. I'm in NY and found an F150 for a steal in Minnesota but I would never be able to register it in NY so I had to pass. I ended up driving down to Maryland as they get better incentives, typically, than the Northeast.
Interesting? I thought California had the most stringent requirements. In California if the car has over 7500 miles and meets it's then produced requirements, with the proper emission equipment you are okay. I've bought 4 or 5 out of state cars and trucks and brought them in without issue.
The truck was brand new so it had to have the same emissions equipment as NY allows, which it didn't.
