Would you ride on a bent rear wheel and how bent? I have not tried balancing it or anything yet, but just trying to feel if I need to toss it.
Probably alot more bent than you think. Post a picture of it and compare to some of these. http://www.framestraightsystem.com/Motorcycle Wheel Repair Pictures.htm
bent lip is way better than a curvature of the wheel.. i have used both companies posted above, both do good work.
Yeah I actually think I mean more of a just use it like it is...... I don't think the thing is worth spending money on to repair.
You can take photos of it and text/email to Will's rim repair and he can tell you whether not it's salvage. If it holds air and doesn't wobble much it's probably ok for the street.
Service manuals usually list runout maximum limits. Most suzukis its 2mm's. Axial bend is worse than radial beyond the service manual max spec. I've seen some bent stuff rolling without too much fanfare. My '11 GSXR1000 rear wheel has a very slight bend less than the 2mm tolerance and its in the radial direction. It balances no different and rides fine.
We tested this exact thing on our racebikes several years ago. Here is what we found: Front wheel: start to feel wobble with a runout of .015" Front rotors: Start to get mid corner chatter at .008" Rear wheel: can't feel it until runout is .050" Most wheel places fix wheels to within .008" or better.
Damn pot holes... Dr John's does great work quick and cheap.. Used Will before a few times in the past and wasn't impressed with his business skills... http://drjohnsmfs.com/
