I'm asking about a crf50, first and foremost, and just for the sake of discussion with a buddy. He says no, I say yes, since it's transmission oil, and not gear oil.

I've read that you can run either in a 4 stroke dirt bike, and be just fine. His main question is top end lubrication.

    What sayeth the beeb?

After further reading, viscosity between the two is damn near the same, and wouldn't be an issue. I knew this, but had forgotten. Its the additives to each that separates them for their designed uses. My buddy was correct with his concern over top end lubrication.
